Fatima, Douro Valley & Santiago
Day 1 – Lisbon |
Arrival at LISBON airport and meeting with our English speaking guide
and transfer to the appointed hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at in city centre.
Day 2 – Lisbon |
Full day excursion of the capital city of Portugal visiting : the Cathedral and
Curch of St. Anthony in the old town.
Lunch in typical restaurant in the historic centre.
In the afternoon You will tour the monumental LISBON with entrance to Jerónimos Monastery
( UNESCO Heritage) the Coach Museum ( the world’s most important collection of ancient royal coaches)and the Tower of Belém , true symbol of Lisbon.
Return to Hotel dinner & Overnight.
Day 3 – Lisbon / Sintra / Lisbon |
Full day excursion in the outskirts of Lisbon. We begin wth the visit of the Royal Palace of Sintra followed by Lunch in typical restaurant.
After lunch we’l drive towards the coast up to Cape Roca, the westernmost point of Continental Europe.
Continue along the coast through Cascais and Estoril, two renowned sea side resorts.
Back to Lisbon and Dinner and overnight in Hotel.
Day 4 – Lisbon / Óbidos / Nazaré / Batalha / Fátima |
Around 8:30 departure from Lisbon to Óbidos considered to be the most beautiful and well preserved historic medieval village in this country – The visit is on foot and takes about one hour.
Drive on to Nazaré, the loveliest fishing village of Portugal presently famous its huge waves challenging surfers from all over the world.
Lunch in restaurant in front of the sea.
In the afternoon proceed to Fátima, but before stop at Batalha to visit the grat monastery, masterpiece of Portuguese gothic architecture ( Unesco wold heritage).
Arrival at Fátima dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Fátima |
This day will be dedicated to the visit of the sanctuary ( the two basilicas) and the Chapel of Apparitions.
In the afternoon visit of the native place of the vidents.
Possibility of taking part in religious services.
Possibility of participate in the night ceremonies.
Hotel in Fátima near the sanctuary esplanade.
Full board in hotel.
Day 6 – Fátima / Coimbra / Oporto |
Leave Fátima for Coimbra, artistic city and siege of the oldest Portuguese University.
Visit of the old University buildings – UNESCO heritage- and the church of Holy Cross where
St Anthony studied before he left for Padua.
Before lunch visit of an important vineyard in the region – with wine tasting included.
Lunch in restaurant.
In the afternoon drive on to OPORTO.
Dinner & overnight at Oporto
Day 7 – Oporto |
Morning city tour or the Old city ( UNESCO heritage) including entrance in St Francis Church and a port wine cellar with wine tasting.
Lunch in restaurant (gourmet degustation).
Rest of the day free for shopping ( Oporto has a reputation for bargain shopping especially shoes and clothing ranging from international trade marks to local production.
Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
Day 8 – Oporto / Douro Valley / Oporto |
Full day excursion in the Douro Valley ( Unesco Lanscape Heritage)
transfer from hotel to railway station and travel by train up to Régua capital of the vineyards region in Douro Valley.
Descent of the river by motor boat ( including the passage of the two dams).
Lunch served on board ( or in restaurant in Régua) .
Upon arrival to pier in Oporto transfer to Hotel for dinner & Overnight.
Day 9 –Oporto/Braga /Santiago de Compostela/ Oporton |
Full day excursion to Santiago de Compostela (Galicia – Spain)
After 3 hours’ drive arrival at this medieval Spanish city that boast the imposing basilica
With the tomb of Santiago (Saint James) Apostle.
Visit of the basilica, museum and the old city centre. Lunch en route or in Santiago.
On the return way to Oporto brief stop at Braga to admire the Bom Jesus shrine the stairway of which is one of the most renowned Portuguese poster Photo.
Dinner and Overnight at Hotel in Oporto.
Day 10 – Oporto |
Transfer to Oporto airport.
In alternative transfer to Lisbon airport (nearly four hours drive always on highway).
