Leave the pier and drive downtown, pass the huge riverside square, Praça do Comércio, the Baixa, heart of Lisbon with its geometric streets and regular façades dating from the 18th century Illuminism. Along modern avenues till Monsanto park from where one gets a superb view of Lisbon and the Tagus. Return to the riverside to admire the bizarre fortress known as Belém Tower (it has been classified by UNESCO as World Heritage), the Monument to the Sea Discoveries and the façade of Monastery of Jerónimos (this too is World Heritage). Then reach the highest point of the tour: the visit of the Coach Museum, a dazzling collection of Royal Coaches most dating from the 18th century displayed in the ancient Royal Riding Hall. Back to the pier after a short stop for buying postcards and souvenirs.
Lisbon Coast: the Kingly Triangle

We begin with Queluz and visit of the Summer Royal Palace – entrance to the rococo royal apartments and elegant French gardens. Then continue west to Sintra described by Lord Byron as “Glorious Eden” and visit the Royal Palace, a labyrinthic construction used by the Royal family as summer residence from the 15th century to the early years of the 20th century. Lunch will be served in Sintra area in restaurant in accordance with the number of participants. In the afternoon we will head for Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Continental Europe – a certificate of presence can be obtained with your name on it. On the way of return we will admire the wild and rocky coast near Guincho and the peaceful bay of Cascais and Estoril where a brief stop will be made before getting back on board.
ALTERNATIVE: this tor can be reduced to 4 hours cutting the visit of one of the palaces and the meal.
Azulejos Tiles Tour
(3 1/2 HOURS)
Begin with Azulejo Museum where you will discover the imaginative use of this Portuguese art. Besides this museum is housed in the Madre de Deus Convent one of Lisbon’s most beautiful churches. From here we proceed to Palace of Marquis de Fronteira to visit the gardens that are world famous for the curious and extravagant decorations of its azulejos being an exceptional and supreme example of the 17th century aesthetics & art. Before returning on board we can arrange (upon previous reservation) a visit to a factory of azulejos where these tiles are still manufactured according to old methods and hand painted.
